Baby Yummy

When it gets personal...

BabyYummy0

When our second baby came prematurely, we realized that none of the baby feeding apps did fit our needs or style. First, they are generally hard to interact with - try using them with one finger while nursing a wriggly baby. These apps present a much more complex interface than we felt was required. Second, they do nothing to alleviate the stress and doubts that come with breastfeeding. And third, we do not like milky pink, sky blue designs and cluttered screens... After a couple of weeks struggling with a colicky baby, we decided to create an app that is not only easy to use but also provides an easy way to exchange between Moms.

Track your baby feeding habits on iPhone

Baby Yummy records breastfeeding duration and/or bottle feeding quantities, with a simple tap or swipe, no typing required. It also tracks your baby's weight and height, and displays a set of minimal curves (sparklines) to let you check in a second that your baby is growing up normally. We have designed this app so that it gets completely out of your way, and lets you focus on the task at hand(!).

Sharing is caring - The nursing chat room

After spending many nights awake while nursing, we have decided to add a chat room to enable new Moms to share their thoughts, ideas, tips and worries. We all know how good breast milk is to babies and we believe many more Moms would be able to breastfeed provided the right information and support: let's make it less easy to give up!

Privacy

We do not capture any data related to you or your baby, nor track our users. We are not sponsored by any company trying to sell you a product, and truly care about your well-being. We want to give you the best experience and facilitate your nursing. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any doubt about it.

One more thing?

While the features we have selected are based on our actual needs, we are open to suggestions to add more to our Baby Yummy.

Features

Features

  • A simple minimal main view (Feed Me), swipe right/left to access breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Breastfeeding has two buttons, black and red, to remember easily which breast was given last. The wheel indicates the progress versus the average feeding time. Simply tap any button when it's done
  • Hit the info button to reveal the taps and gestures help
  • A synthetic calendar view, showing the day averages and how many times Baby fed. These values can be visualized on the plots view
  • A measures view, to record your baby weight, height and head circumference. These values can be visualized on the plots view
  • A plots view, which displays the progress of your Baby as sparklines, rather than bar charts. We chose to do so in order to have a no-thrill snapshot, the only thing that really matters as long as you're away from your pediatrician is that these curves show growth.
  • A chat room. This is private to the app, and does not request registration (at least as long as people do not abuse it). The main idea is that, while breastfeeding is widely recognized to be the best food for your baby, it is quite an ordeal at times. And we really felt that a community could better support you while doing so: freely discuss your doubts, tips, worries. It's good to exchange, and to have other opinions than your family's. Is my Baby having enough milk? Why does it take/last longer in the morning than at night? Why is Baby crying at dusk? And while Baby is on the breast, why not have a simple chat with other Moms who are doing the same thing right at this moment?
